NOTE: MAY TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO LOAD

Made for the Kenney Jam 2023, with the theme "Exploration".

Granted the power to assemble and cleanse new Realms, it is your job to first create a Realm using the map tiles provided, and then remove all enemies from that Realm so that it is safe for people to live there. The tiles you place in the Realm will impact what enemies spawn, as well as how you can explore the Realm. Once you enter the Realm, you no longer have access to the full view map, so you'll have to be careful as you explore so not to get too lost.

CONTROLS:

  • Mouse Motion & Left Click - Can be used in the Realm Creation / Menu instead of the below options.
  • WASD - Movement in the Game / Realm Creation / Menu
  • SPACE - Selection in the Game / Realm Creation / Menu
  • ESCAPE - Used in the Realm Creation or Game to return to the main menu
  • RETURN - Used in the Realm Creation to begin the game
  • BACKSPACE - Used in the Realm Creation to generate new tiles
  • SHIFT - Used in the Realm Creation to randomly generate the Realm

TUTORIAL:

  • On the main menu you can select either "START - NORMAL" or "START - FOG". The only difference is that if you select the "FOG" option your visibility will be decreased during the game itself.
  • After selecting one of the "START" options, you will enter into Phase 1: Realm Creation. Here you can assemble the Realm using map tiles in the top-right, or have the game create a Realm for you by pressing the "RAND GEN" button. Once the Realm has been filled, you can press "START GAME".
  • This takes you into Phase 2: Enemy Removal. Each of the "feature" tiles, such as houses or castles, will spawn some number of enemies. Your goal is to kill all of these enemies using your bow as fast as possible. The enemies cannot leave their home region, and each feature tile spawns only a specific type of enemy, so you can plan around the tile types to avoid taking damage yourself.
  • Tile information:
    • The tiles that will spawn enemies are the Farmhouse (rats), Gates (bats), Castles (orcs), Graveyards (Ghosts), and Houses (Spiders)
    • You walk faster on the dirt roads and other similar tiles, including the cobble pathway found at houses and graveyards.

Very good game. I enjoyed the fast-moving enemies, and created your own world is neat. Being able to aim a different direction than I am moving seems like the main thing that held it back. Otherwise, it felt like a great top down shooter!

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! If I update this game in the future I'll see about adding a way to shoot with the mouse, for 360 degree aiming.
