Like a Fighter ZERO is a very simple fighting game designed to reward tight execution timings. String together combos of light and heavy attacks by pressing the respective buttons right as the previous attack hits, guard yourself from incoming attacks with the block button, or simply backdash away from the opponent to avoid being hit all-together. Be careful though, some attacks can pierce through your guard.
As with my other ZERO games, Like a Fighter is intended to be more of a tech demo for the kind of fighting game I'd make in PyGame rather than a fully fleshed-out one. Like a Fighter ZERO only features one playable character - Ruka - however if I make an updated version that would definitely be the main thing to increase.
Unfortunately many features ended up cut for this prototype including 2 of Ruka's base attacks, crouching & crouch attacks, parries, and a second hand-drawn artstyle. Ideally an updated version would atleast give back Ruka's 2 attacks as well as the return of parries, however I cannot confirm if this will happen.
Controls:
The controls listed are in the order Xbox Controller / WASD / Numpad. Gamepads sometimes don't work on the web version, so the windows version is recommended.

Below are the stats for Ruka's four moves. An "L" indicates a light press, and an "H" indicates a heavy press. Note that a move's endlag can be skipped by following up the attack with the next in a combo string.

- 6 damage, 15 frames hitstun, pierces block
- 8 frames startup, 10 frames of hit, 12 frames endlag

Very fun little game, loving the games you're making in this format. I am not great at fighting games, so I am unable to give feedback on game-play balancing and such, but the graphics and controls are pleasing to use when you get used to it. I like the art style and the overall feel of the game.

Thanks! I'm really enjoying making these "zero" games, they're effectively just prototypes for larger games but still fully functional games in their own rights, so I get the best of both worlds (not having to worry about them feeling feature complete while still getting the same amount of gameplay out of them as my non-zero games).
I wasn't too sure on if the artstyle would work originally but seeing it in full motion really does offset how bad I am at art. If I had more time for the art I'd definitely be expanding this game more.
