MAY TAKE A MOMENT TO LOAD.

Trapped behind a horde of 7000 enemy ships, can you escape alive?

Lylat Escape is a simple shoot-em-up / bullet-hell, all you have to do is reach the edge of the map. But with a few thousand enemy ships in the way, it's not quite so easy. Quick reflexes, good aim, or a lot of luck will see you through. Even if you do make it through... may as well try again for a higher score or faster time, right?

Lylat Escape was built entirely for the Indie Dev Game Jam #4, with the theme "escape". It is a sequel to my side-scrolling shmup Lylat and reverse-shmup Talyl, using the same ship artwork and music, but player controls, the objective, and enemy movements are entirely redesigned.

V1.1 ADDITIONS:

  • Four difficulties to select, with the Jam version being the hardest difficulty (impossible). As the difficulty increases, so too does the number of enemies, the speed of enemy shots, and the active range of enemies.
  • Four different control options, with the Jam version being "Type A". Types A and B have tank controls for movement, while C and D have tradition 4-way movement. Types A and C use SPACE for shooting, only in the direction the ship faces, while B and D use the mouse for shooting in any direction.
  • A reflector activated using SHIFT, that reflects enemy shots for a short period of time.
  • An improved tutorial, containing information on the movement patterns of the six enemy types.
  • The game being renamed from "Escape Lylat" to "Lylat Escape"

The radar at the top shows the ship as a big gray box! Other than, it's a solid game.

Ah the big grey box isn't the ship, but rather it represents the current screen (the ship is always in the centre of it, so I decided not to display it on the radar)

Glad you liked the game though :D

Oh, OK. Best of luck on your future endeavors.
