Cardolon [1666]
A downloadable game for Windows
POST JAM VERSION AVAILABLE HERE
My submission to the MashUp Game Jam 2022.
The year is 1666, and London is burning. Entrusted with the elemental cards, can you prevent the destruction of all London?
Cardolon is a turn-based card game featuring strategy elements, where you must prevent the destruction of London using the four elemental cards (listed below). Rather than earning a score as the game goes along, you start off with as high a score as you can ever get. At the start, all tiles are worth 100 points. As a tile burns or is destroyed in some other manner, it's worth slowly decreases. At the start of each turn, it is possible for a special event to occur, such as a dragon attack or the river flooding.
- Fire - Burn a group of tiles, preventing fire from spreading there
- Water - Put out the fire in a group of tiles
- Earth - Build a wall, entirely blocking the fire's path.
- Wind - Change the wind direction, impacting the fire's spread. Fire can jump over water and burnt tiles if the wind is right.
Check the in-game tutorial for more information.
CONTROLS:
- Mouse Motion - Movement in the menu / game
- Left Click - Selection in the menu / game
- Right Click - Deselection
- On-screen button - Discard the selected card
KNOWN BUGS:
- Depending on how two random events interact (arsonists + dragon attack), it is possible that some fire may never go out.
- This does not result in the score continuing to tick down
- The fire can still be put out using the water element, which must be done in order to win the game.
