Made for the Brackeys Game Jam 2023.2, with the theme "Diving Deeper"

Kaya! Kaya! is an arcade-style game about diving for treasure and surviving the monsters that lie in your way. Each dive is split into two phases: First, you move downwards, grabbing any treasure and crystals you can, while also defeating the monsters. At the bottom of the depths is a large treasure chest, after you grab it you move onto the second phase. In this phase, you return to the surface quickly. You can still attack, as well as grab treasure and crystals, but it's much harder to do so while returning. All levels are randomly assembled from pre-made parts, so they'll never be impossible.

Touching an enemy or a wall will make you lose 1 heart, and if you get hit by an enemy, you will drop one piece of treasure. At the end of each dive the number of enemies killed, crystals collected and treasure collected is counted and used to determine your score for that dive. You also get a 1.5x point modifier for playing on HARD mode instead of EASY. Always prioritise escaping alive instead of collecting more treasure or crystals, if you die then you gain no points for the treasure collected.

The game itself is really fun, but this felt like a rage game (maybe that's what you went for). I didn't rage at the game, but I can easily understand why people would. I really like the concept though! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for playing! It's not supposed to be a rage game necessarily, definitely intended to be challenging though. Glad you enjoyed it!
